Lightning Ridge NSW

Here we are at the Opal Caravan Park at Lightning Ridge.  The CP was only opened in 2011 & the facilities are excellent.  It is a huge CP with pebbles on the ground.

Another photo of the CP...very well set out!

The Lightning Ridge Artesian Bore Baths...excellent for rejuvinating the body...very warm!

The water is approx. 2 million years old!  Natural pressure sends the water from over a kilometre below to the earth's surface through an artesian bore under natural pressure, maintaining a constant temperature of 41.5C.

Amigo's castle..he started building it in 1983...don't know when he is going to finish it!?!

The beautiful Warrumbungle National Park,NSW

This was the un-powered section in the camping area-there is a big undercover BBQ & tables section & each site had there own fire facility.

This is the view from our caravan site...looking towards the 'Breadknife'.

We went on an 'easy' walk to the Spirey Creek lookout!  It was 6.6 klms return, which was fine only they didn't say it was mainly uphill getting there....but at least that meant it was all downhill on the way back to the car.  It was a lovely walk but I was exhausted when we got back!

Spirey Creek lookout.
Having a rest before I tackle the walk back.

The huge telescope at Siding Spring Observatory.

A great view from the Whitegum Lookout-the 'Breadknife is in the centre of the photo

This is a fabulous view from the Whitegum Lookout-the 'Breadknife' is to the right of the big formation in the centre of the photo. It is hard to pick out but looks like a breadknife with the serrated edge sitting upwards.
